The Poitou Charente region is the second sunniest in France,warm summers and mild winters.
Lots to see and do in the area,whether visiting the local markets,chateaux, horse riding,adventure parks or simply strolling about one of the typical French towns and villages
The small town of Mansle is approx 5 km for your shopping needs.Two supermarkets,boulangeries,butchers,restaurants friendly pavement cafes, internet access, weekly market and canoe hire on the Charente.
Ruffec is slightly further away also with a good range of shops, restaurants, cafes, twice weekly market, summer festivals and a tourist information office.Here you will find the hotel where the Cockleshell heroes ,Operation Frankton, met up with the resistance after walking from Bordeaux
La Rochfoucauld with its stunning 12c chateau overlooking the town also has plenty of shopping opportunities and concerts are held during the summer months in the old cloisters.
Angouleme is the main town of the region with many festivals the circuit de remparts,museums,boat trips on the Charente, pedestrianised area with many restaurants and the resistance museum

Cognac.
World famous for the production of Cognac,take a guided tour round one of the distilleries, visit the Chateau,go on a boat trip on the Charente or visit the childrens leisure park

Martyrs village destroyed by the SS in 1944 and the population murdered.Preserved in the state it was left in as a reminder and memorial.

La Rochelle.
Visit the old town the harbour area the beach or the aquarium.
La Palmyre zoo
